Meet Dr. Reed

Dr. Melissa Reed MD

FOUNDER/MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Melissa Reed, MD, is an Indiana leader in providing innovative therapies for a variety of mental health conditions. She has a strong focus on patient care, research, and a commitment to expanding access to care.

After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Indiana University in 2003, Dr. Reed went on to earn her Medical Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2007. Choosing to pursue Anesthesia as her specialty, Dr. Reed completed her Residency in 2011 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.

Dr. Reed’s career initially brought her back to Indiana, practicing Anesthesia at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour until 2019. However, her relentless drive for exploring innovative treatments sparked a turning point in her professional journey. It was through a journal article on the use of ketamine for depression that Dr. Reed’s curiosity was piqued. Motivated by the potential of this groundbreaking therapy, she embarked on extensive research and the development of IV Ketamine Infusion protocols.

In 2016, Dr. Reed’s dedication and expertise led to the establishment of Klarity Ketamine Wellness Clinic, where she serves as Medical Director. Over the past seven years, Dr. Reed and her staff at Klarity have transformed the lives of thousands of patients suffering from conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain through the use of IV Ketamine, Spravato (esketamine), and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapies.  In early 2023, Klarity expanded to a second location in Indianapolis, with more locations planned in the near future.

Driven by a commitment to staying at the forefront of mental health treatments, Dr. Reed actively explores emerging therapies, with a particular emphasis on the use of psychedelics. Moreover, Dr. Reed understands the importance of accessibility and affordability of mental health care. She dedicates a significant portion of her professional time working with her billing company, aiming to expand patient access to these new and promising treatment options through insurance reimbursements.

Dr. Reed resides in Indianapolis with her husband, two daughters, and several pets. She loves traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending as much time on the lake as possible, however, most weekends are spent watching her two daughters play travel softball and club volleyball.
